A well of wisdom to encourage and empower.

Where we inspire, advocate and educate others to grow, create and ascend.

About
The Neo-Ancestral Impulse is vital to the Black Community by demonstrating the positive role that art can play in society. Our ancestors have always been useful benefactors who facilitate the development and imagination of artists and art in black neighborhoods that, prior to the 1960s, were rarely encouraged to use African-centered imagery. Historically, it was believed that it was politically safer to choose conventional or acceptable mainstream art for young black artists to be successful in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Today, we are inspired by African ancestral artists like Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawarence, Alma Thomas, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. All around the globe, people of all races and nationalities are benefiting from African-inspired art. Neo Ancestral Impulse provides platforms for individuals, groups, and families of youth and adults to learn, grow, and ascend.
